Damage to the foundation of the green bridge

We have recently noticed some of the foundation’s stones of the green bridge across the lake has been damaged and collapsed into the lake. We believe this is due to some fishing men trying to make a fishing platform.

This has been reported to the Derbyshire County Council and please note: the space underneath the bridge has no public access and to fish here is strictly not allowed.

Notice for ground works

We are currently carrying out works for a new Tree Nursery in the area shown circled red on the image below. The GroundWork has been approved by the Environment Agency Officers at a site meeting last month, and the clearance works are also being guided by the wildlife policies as laid down in the site’s Ecology Report.

Some of the public rights of way could be affected by these works, please walk carefully around the working area, and we are sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Potential new route after our close of the public access.

This route marked in dotted orange is a potential new route to form a new loop after we close the concessionary public footpath. We have heard the project is being planned to get this route through by the end of September 2018 via an old section 106 agreement.

Please note: this is part of the Nature Reserve’s land and our opinion is as a third party neighbour only. We understand from previous conversations that the barge channel will be closed and the Nature Reserve water will be isolated from River Erewash (and our land will be blocked out completely from the Nature Reserve).

Important notice regarding public access on our land

This is a private farm and is NOT part of the Nature Reserve. The trail marked orange on the map alongside the railway is a Private road and it had a concessionary public access due to a historical arrangement between CEMEX and Derbyshire Country Council from 2007.

However, the arrangement ended in 2017 and there is no public right of way anymore. As the council is not maintaining it and the condition of the trail is deteriorating into a very poor state, the public access to it could be closed physically at any time.

No horses.

Anybody who entered into it without our permission will be trespassing and will be at his/her own risk.

Thanks for your cooperation. Any questions please leave a comment below and we will reply to you at our convenience.

The pyramid shape greenhouse Eco-friendly vertical farm

The planned greenhouse will consist of a series of 25-meter-high pyramid greenhouses with a length of 50 meters of each border.

The innovation of the pyramid greenhouses was inspired by the Egyptian pyramids. The shape of this natural element is strong and resistant and unraveling energy mystery. The innovative greenhouses adopt the shape of a pyramid, in addition to the appearance, but also has the effect of promoting growth and take full advantage of the vertical space. The greenhouse utilizes the spatial truss structure of the honeycomb in the external to form a strong point-surface resistance. In addition, the top-cone structure is also conducive to the hot accumulation of hot air in greenhouses, which is more conducive to vertical ventilation and chimney effect so that no ventilation fans are needed at all. The smooth four slopes of the pyramid also facilitate the coverage of hard materials such as polycarbonate hollow sheets, and can also install a certain percentage of solar panels to solve part of the electricity for greenhouse production.

Aeroponic and aquaponic systems will be built inside and the overall production efficiency will be 20 times as per the same area on a traditional farm, and it is sustainable agriculture which uses zero insecticides and 90% less of water. It also costs significantly less than widely used Dutch-style greenhouses.

The vegetable and fruit basket affects all families but the UK has a self-sufficiency rate of just 58% in vegetables and 11% in fruit! It is believed to replace the imported vegetables if this new technology can be widely used throughout the country and create a lot of local jobs.

This is an Innovate UK project and is partnered with both Nottingham and Nottingham Trent Universities. There are a few of potential sites throughout the UK to launch this project and our farm is one of them. Whether or not the final project will be launched here is also subject to local planning authorities’ support.
